Getting to Know Each Other
The Task Force helped develop increased understanding between water entities by sponsoring a series of dialogue sessions and visits to irrigation districts by Task Force members throughout the year 2000. The dialogue sessions offered the main municipal utility and irrigation districts in the Texas, New Mexico and Mexican parts of the Paso del Norte an opportunity to explain the structure, operations, and management of the organization to fellow water users. The irrigation district visits offered Task Force members and irrigation district board members and staff the opportunity to see first-hand how neighboring districts operate. In many cases, direct contacts were established for the first time. The Task Force members generally reacted to the irrigation district visits with an increased appreciation and interest in learning more and returning for a more detailed visit in the future.
